Oscar Wilde's Opinions about Women

Oscar Wilde was a decisive man in his short life. He married in his thirty, he wrote Dorian Gray in his thirty-seven, and accused of being a homosexual in the same year. What was the big event in his life to make him a women-hater? Even tough he had two daughters and one son from his beautiful wife.
He said "No woman is a genius. Woman are a decorative sex. He must decided that after his marriage. He is also a hedonist, and aesthetist, so why did he break apart from his wife? He had already three children, an ex-lover, who was Lord Alfred Douglas, a decorative sex in his home who was a beautiful, stupid, new generation predictor.
He said in the same paragraph "Women never have anything to say, but they say it charmingly. Women represent the triumph of matter over mind, just as men represent the triumph of mind over morals." According to this phrase, he must be bored of his wife's materialism. He should be true about one thing that they lived in Victorian Era, that every women were spending much more money and unhealthy materials than today. She must got angry Oscar Wilde with her wishes which are unnecessary according to men. As a result, Oscar Wilde referred a purely beautiful man than a woman who endevours for it so much.
Consequently, no men should give up being with a woman just because of women's 'stupid' wishes or general reasons like women's acts which are beautiful, not genius according to Oscar Wilde.

  1. I agree with burcu. Because being with a woman is a very good and enjoyful thing. Sometimes they can want stupid wishes, like Burcu said we can't give up being with a woman. Oscar Wilde give up his wife, but this is very stupid idea I think. Because he had three children from his wife. Also women are important for men, because like people said "There is a woman near a succesful man."

  2. I don't agree with your words about homosexuality, sweetie. I think, this subject does not need a big event to make him a woman-hater. Homosexuality is about sexual orientation and feelings. Because of that reasons, sexual things can alter in a short way. Actually, I wonder what was the big event in his life to make him think in that way. After he has changed his feelings, he does not have to be a woman-hater or something against to women.
In your post, there is something which I really liked. You compellingly good at supporting your ideas with the sentences in our book and these sentences make your thoughts true :)

  3. In Burcu's post, I sometimes agree with her but sometimes I don't. That's is point I agreed that Oscar Wilde really had an event in his life to give up his wife. Thus, he liked his wife at first period but after although he had three children, he could leave her. OK but WHY? He looks like nearly Dorian's relation with Sibyl. In the book, Dorian liked her. After, (maybe because of the effects of Lord Henry or hedonism or Dorian's youth and beauty) he gave up her. So, this means this book is really really really the reflection of Oscar Wilde. I think, this comment can be in both of Çağatay's and Burcu's post.

  5. Actually there are points I agree and points that I completely disagree. Like alpin said, homosexuality doesn't bring a hatred to woman. Man can have unlimited love, it means loving the same sex do not increase the hate to other sex.
Also being woman has lots of good points and bad points. If we look at that subject by the Oscar Wilde's choosing and point of view it would be limited. So it is better to discuss about homosexuality keeping Oscar or any other homosexual's behaviors out of the discussion.
Like any people who love someone, Oscar Wilde praises his love, that can be seen like an insult to woman.

  6. Firstly I thought that being with a women is an only hiding the homosexual feelings of Oscar Wilde I think because according the Burcu's post, he doesn't like the women. It can be only necessity.
On the other hand he has 3 child. How it can be? I asked myself from the man who hates women and also homosexual. Its answer can be confusing but he can be loved to live with his wife.
All in all I agree that he had a mad life...
